Day 8 - photo challenge

DAY 8 - THIS PICTURE MADE ME LAUGH

IT'S MONDAY

Welcome to the 35th edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Blogging  is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read  and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is  this person!?"  I know them...but yet I don't know them!  I want  to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great  way for all of us to "meet" each other!

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you  questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we  can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!
CLICK THE BUTTON ABOVE IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN.
NOW, ON WITH THE QUESTIONS....

Questions:

1.  What are you wearing right now?

I am wearing a pair of shorts and a T-Shirt that I received for participating in the "The Great Visit Florida Beach Walk."  It was held the day after I returned to Florida last November. Here is the link to my mile 54, and you can see all the submissions, representing each mile of Florida.
You aren't getting a picture of me in the shirt, because I am exhausted and have not washed my face yet. (written last night, before bed)

2.  Do you have any freckles?

I have sun freckles in various places, but not a lot.

3.  What is your favorite Lifesaver flavor?

My first thought was cherry, until I saw Java's answer. YUM!!! Butter rum !!

4.  What is the last movie you saw in the theater?

Thanks to Happy Star (Hardees on facebook) I won a free ticket to see The Green Hornet 3D
MJ and I had the theater all to ourselves and we had a fun time. I talked him into NOT getting the 5 gallon bucket of popcorn, which saved me an extra trip to the treadmill.

5.  Would you rather live without TV or without music?

Pulling my ear buds out of my ears before I answer this.  GOOD-BYE TV, it was nice knowing you !!
I listen to music every chance I get. It keeps me moving when I am walking on the beach. A lot of times I have music playing in one ear while I am working on my laptop, even when the TV is on. Please, take my TV, but don't touch my music.

Thank you Java for continuing with this MeMe

Photo challenge - Day 7

How is everyone else doing? I am going to take a peek at your links soon.

working my mojo

I am super excited about my last 2 trips to Winn Dixie, and yet I am bummed out because I could have done even better if I had planned. This is pretty darn good for not planning though.

Yesterday I went for beer. My Michelob was on sale for $10. Love my Michelob !! MJ gave me a $20 bill and, as usual, I went over budget. (I always carry mad money) He didn't complain when he saw what I came home with.

12 pack of Michelob Ultra on sale = $10
Chicken was BOGO  total cost = $7.94 for 3.5 lbs.
Olay body wash (my luxury item) on clearance =  $3
(4) Coke  2 liters and  (1) Sprite 2 liter (good coupons)  = $4 for all
Coke 1.25 liter = FREE
Coffee-Mate = FREE coupon
Dove candy bar = FREE coupon
Kraft Mac N cheese = FREE if you by Coke 2 liter

This trip =  Spent $24.88
Total savings = $27.84
=============
I got home and I am upset that I only got 1 box of mac N cheese, instead of 5. What was I thinking?
MJ came home today and said that he also needed beer to take golfing, so if I want to go to the store again, I can. (Hands over another $20)
VROOOOOOOOOOOOM ... bye-bye

So, here is the mojo I worked today

Beer on sale = $17
(4) Mac N cheese I forgot yesterday = FREE
(2) Gain dryer sheets on sale $2.49, but I had $3 coupons.
(this is where the fun comes in) Total cost of these = overage $1
So, I get myself another OLAY (luxury item)

Olay on clearance $3. Coupon in paper today for $1, and I get the $1 overage from the GAIN

So, today's Total was $18.44
Savings of $20

The plan is to take back the first Olay and get back $3, but I probably won't

==============================

Friday I head to Omaha where I won't have a Commissary, a Publix, or a Winn Dixie.
I will have to work my MOJO at new stores, but I am up for the challenge.

Five Question Friday

Click the button and join the fun.

Before I begin, I must say this...
"I am #151"   (unless someone sneaks in before I post)
That is downright insanity people, and awesome at the same time.
The reason that I decided to join in this week was to get my brain out of the dizzy world of what I like to call BlahBlahBlog. I am in a writing slump and didn't know where to begin on my next post. These questions are just what I needed.

1. Can you drive a stick shift?

Yes I can. My first husband tried to reach me and he failed miserably. In my opinion, you don't stop a car half-way up a 60 degree angle hill, stick a person in the drivers seat and say "ok...go!" After 3 days of trying it his way, I taught myself how to drive that stick shift while he was at work.

2. What are two foods you just can't eat?

I wasn't sure if I could think of anything here and then I remembered last night. MJ brought me a vienna sausage. GROSS !! I did the whole plug your nose thing and I shoved it in my mouth. I started to chew it, but each mini bite brought me closer to spitting it out, so I just swallowed whatever was left in my mouth and chased it down with a few big gulps of water.

At the moment I can't think of another food, but I am sure there is something out there. I don't want my brain to wander off into blahblah land..so I am moving on.

3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind?

Thin Mints are my favorite. There is another kind that I have tried and liked. I had to run to SwagBucks to find out the name. They are called Caramel Delites aka Samoa. THREE CHEERS FOR SWAGBUCKS !!
Even though I have a favorite kind, I rarely purchase Girl Scout cookies, because I am never asked. Isn't that crazy? It has been at least 5 years since anyone waved an order sheet in my face and asked me to buy cookies. My scale says thank you.

4. How do you pamper yourself?

Drawing a blank here. These questions were supposed to help to stir my writing juices and they seem to be making me evaluate myself instead. (insert laughter) I used to soak in a nice hot bath, but those aren't quite as much fun now that the hot flashes have started. I have never had my nails done and have never craved it. I don't get my hair done, and I don't even get it trimmed as often as I should. (Last time was May 2010)
  How about this...
I take MJ's $10 coupon for JCP that he gets in the mail monthly and I go shopping to see what is the best deal I can get. Wednesday the purchase was 80 cents for a pair of corduroys. That is how I pamper myself.

5. What is your nickname and how did you get it?

Family calls me Roni (blech) I don't like it and I can't get them to stop. It is funny when I run into people on Facebook that I grew up with and they call me "Roni" when they make comments on my page. My twin brother is John, so "Roni and Johnny" was the plan. They never called him Johnny, but always called me Roni  (they spell it Ronnie, I don't)
My second nickname is Rose. It came from a screen name that I have on AOL. People that have known me online for years  started to call me Rosie, and that is how Rosie became a part of my blog name.

Now I get to read your answers. Until next time...

Wednesday Hodgepodge (Vol 15)

click the button and join in
Thank you Joyce !!

Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. #15

1. Did you know there is a national day of pretty much everything in the universe?  Feb 23rd happens to be National Inconvenience Yourself Day...when was the last time you were inconvenienced?

Honestly, I couldn't think of anything to put here, so I guess that's a good thing.

Have you heard about the jellyfish that tripped me, sprained both of my wrists, and totally inconvenienced my life for over 6 weeks?

IT WAS DEAD AND FLAT LIKE A PANCAKE..NOT AS OBVIOUS AS THIS ONE

2. When a room in your house needs painting, who does the job?

MJ does the main painting, and I do the edges.

3.  Are you friends with your cousins?

I have 36 cousins, and they are all from my mom's side of the family. I have not been very close to any of them until recently. Over the past year I have been in contact with a few of them on facebook, and I am thrilled about that. Last April I even had the chance to spend time with my cousin Matt, after more than 20 years of not seeing each other.

4.  Do you use an alarm clock-if yes, is it an actual alarm, music or something else?

We have an alarm clock that sits on the nightstand on MJ's side of the bed. It was purchased about 5 years ago and plays "twinkle twinkle lucky star", by Merle Haggard. It is an alarm clock that you can load your own wake up message or song. (Bought on clearance for $3) I never would have believed that he would still be using it after all these years. I never hear it. He wakes me up by kissing me on the cheek.

I have to share a picture here, because I remembered that there are 3 alarm clocks on his side of the bed, but only one gets used.

5.  What do you put ketchup on?

I put it on my scrambled eggs, but I don't gob it on like a maniac. Usually, it's a little swirl for flavor. I don't put it on my french fries, but I do dip my french fries in it. YUM !! If I have hot dogs I will squeeze a line down the dog.

It is a main ingredient in my sloppy joes; and I think that about covers it. (no pun intended)  MMMM I think we will have sloppy joes tonight for dinner.

6.  What smells make you nostalgic?

Baby lotion. One smell of baby lotion and I am transported back to bath-time with my babies.

7.  Did you hear about the high school  English teacher recently suspended for some things she wrote on her personal blog?  You can read the story here but in a nutshell she vented a lot of frustration onto her blog.  She didn't mention individual students by name but she did make some harsh comments about kids in general and their parents.

What are your thoughts-if you're a parent is your child's teacher online and are you a 'friend' or 'follower' there?  If you're a teacher are you on facebook and do you accept or friend students there?  How about their parents?  If you're a student are you friends with your current or former teachers online?  Do any of them have blogs you read?  If you're a teacher or a parent do you ever use your blog as a place to vent your frustrations with our educational system?   So much to discuss....

Yes, I did hear about it and have mixed feelings. I would be upset if she were teaching my child. If she feels the way she does, maybe teaching isn't for her, but we all have bad days when we want to vent, and it seems that she should be able to vent on her own blog. I don't do good on discussion questions, so I will leave it at that.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The last question gives me a great opportunity to bring up my own rant here.
Last September I called in sick to my job. I won't go into detail, but if I wasn't in bed, I was on the toilet. (enough said) My place of business is a restaurant/bar that is owned by family of family. I have been employed there for 6 years.
The day after I called in sick I happened to post a goofy video of myself on facebook. I was dancing in my living room and just having fun. The video had been recorded about a week earlier. Well, my boss is a friend of mine on facebook. To make a long story short, she took me off of the schedule. Fired me, although they never use those words. They just stop scheduling you. I was leaving town for 4 months to head to our Florida home, so I assumed that she would get over it and everything would be fine when I returned in March. (next week) Apparently she still thinks that I was not sick back in September and I was dancing around the house, not wanting to work, so I have no job now when I return to Omaha.     ::shrugs::

Want to see the video?? (It was here for 4 hours and I chickened out and deleted it)

Salisbury Steak

FOR SOME REASON, I STARTED TAKING PICTURES WHEN I COOK.
IT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE I TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING (GRINS)
I HAVE DECIDED THAT I MAY AS WELL ADD THE RECIPES TO GO WITH THESE PICTURES.
THIS IS A SIMPLE AND TASTY RECIPE FOR SALISBURY STEAK

Salisbury Steak

1 pound ground beef
1 cup soft bread crumbs. (2 slices)
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Mix all together and shape into 4 patties
brown quickly on both sides, drain grease off and remove from pan

In the pan put 1 can of mushroom soup plus 1/2 cup of water, stir well
Return the patties to the pan and cover with soup

cover and stir over med-low heat for 15-20 minutes
(I drain the grease off of the mushroom soup before serving)

I SUPPOSE IT COULD SERVE FOUR, BUT WE ARE PIGGIES, AND EAT 2 EACH

INGREDIENTS

THIS IS HOW I DO THE SLICES OF BREAD..EASY BREEZY

ALL MIXED UP IN A BIG BALL

BROWNING ON BOTH SIDES.. REMOVE FROM PAN AND GET RID OF THE NASTY GREASE

CAN OF MUSHROOM SOUP WITH 1/2 CAN OF WATER..GOING INTO THE PAN

BACK IN THE PAN THEY GO

ALL SMOTHERED IN THE SOUP, COVERED AND COOKED

AND SERVED

5. At the age of 23, I divorced my first husband, gave up custody of my two daughters, and moved 1500 miles away. They grew up without their mom.
6. I re-married and had a third daughter. She taught me how to love myself again.
7. My three girls are all adults now,  and I have an amazing relationship with each of them.
